Time to reflect and reset

How confident are you that you are still on the right path?
Do you notice what matters most to you, others and the planet – every day?
Big questions…

Anyone working in the areas of climate action, sustainability and creating change for positive impact occasionally faces stress, frustration and overwhelm. It’s normal and very human. And it’s energy-draining. It prevents you from being your best self and from consistently delivering high-impact outcomes.

In these moments, everyone would benefit from times of rest, reflect and reset. Recharging in this way energises you to achieve more – more sustainably.

Going with the natural rhythm, the time around winter solstice is a good moment to go inwards and reflect. It’s dark for longer – every day.

I’m inviting you to gift yourself an hour or a few and explore some of the below questions. It doesn’t have to be an in-depth review and planning session. Trust yourself that the first few thoughts that come up are enough for now. They might just redefine or re-align parts of your journey.

Pathways to sustainable high-performance

Be curious and kind to yourself when answering the following questions. Any insights will help you to move forward more intentionally into longer days with more light.

  • INSIGHTS: Explore the past 6 months

    • List stand-out memories

    • 1-3 important things that happened per month

    • Key learnings and insights?

    • Who or what inspired you?

  • IDEAS: Recognise what’s already planned for the next 6 months

    • Revisit your vision and plans – what does your gut tell you?

    • One thing you absolutely want to create

    • One thing you want to let go off

    • One thing that you’d like to see happening per month

  • INSIDE: Notice what’s going on inside you

    • Do a quick Energy Map as snapshot of your life

    • How do you want to feel at the end of 2022?

  • OUTSIDE: Discover which elements in your context are influencing you

    • Create a list of people, events, places, news topics, other activities that influence you – positively or negatively. What can you positively change? What needs to be acknowledged and accepted for now?

  • CHOICES: Decide on your intentions and plans for the next 6 months

    • To capture this, use any format that has worked for you before. We often forget about things that have served us well before. It’s worth remembering and maybe, reusing.

Change happens when you manage to tap into the right flow of energy and not swim against the currents. Author Jocelyn Davis describes it perfectly:
‘A leader’s role is to channel the world’s natural flow.’

Go well!
